The name Annandale comes from a large piece of land. This land was given by John Bard and his wife to Columbia University. They wanted a college to be built there. What Are Some Historic Buildings?
- Blithewood is a famous mansion in Annandale-on-Hudson. It was designed by Francis L. V. Hoppin in 1899. He worked for a well-known architecture firm called McKim, Mead and White. Blithewood was built for Andrew C. Zabriskie.
- This mansion replaced an older one with the same name. That earlier mansion was updated by architect Alexander Jackson Davis for Robert Donaldson Jr..
