Geroldswil is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the Limmat Valley in the canton of Zürich. It's part of the Dietikon district.

History of Geroldswil
Geroldswil was first written about in the year 1255. Back then, its name was Geroltzwiler. For a long time, it was a Strassendorf, which means a village built along a road in the Limmat Valley. In the second half of the 1900s, Geroldswil grew a lot. It became a part of the bigger Zürich area.
Geography and Land Use
Geroldswil covers an area of about 1.9 square kilometers (0.73 square miles). A big part of this land is used for different things:
- About 27% of the land is used for farming.
- Around 24.3% is covered by forests.
- A large portion, about 42.9%, is built up with buildings and roads.
- The remaining 5.8% is made up of things like rivers or mountains, which are not used for farming or building.
In 1996, homes and other buildings took up 36.1% of the total area. Roads and other ways to get around made up 7.9%. A small part of the non-used land, 3.1%, was water, like streams and lakes. By 2007, about 43.8% of the town's area was being built on.

Geroldswil has a population of 5,046 people (as of 31 December 2020).
