From Counselor to Comedian
Before becoming an actor, Gerry worked as a high school counselor. He then decided to try stand-up comedy. This is when a comedian performs live in front of an audience. He chose the stage name "Gerry Bednob" from the movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks. He used this name to keep his comedy career a secret from his job at first!
Gerry spent two years practicing his comedy in Toronto. Then, in the late 1970s, he moved to Los Angeles, USA. He later became an American citizen.
