Gideon Gela-Mosby, born on December 27, 1996, is an Australian professional rugby league player. He used to play for the North Queensland Cowboys in the top-level NRL competition.

About Gideon Gela-Mosby
Gideon was born in Cairns, Australia. His family comes from the Torres Strait Islander people. He grew up on a very small place called Darnley Island in the Torres Strait.
Gideon didn't play rugby league until he moved back to Cairns for high school. There, he played for junior teams like the Cairns Kangaroos and Edmonton Storm. Because of his parents' connection to Daru Island, he might also be able to play for the Papua New Guinea national team.
Gideon's Rugby League Journey
Starting in Youth Teams
In 2012, Gideon played for the Northern Pride's junior team, scoring 9 tries. The next year, he moved up to a higher youth team.
In 2014, Gideon moved to Townsville. He went to Kirwan State High School and played for the Townsville Stingers youth team. His team won the championship that year, and Gideon scored 7 tries. He even scored a try in the national final! That same year, he was chosen to play for the Queensland under-18 team and the Australian Schoolboys team. While at Kirwan State High, Gideon was also a very fast runner. He won the Queensland Schoolboys 100-meter sprint title.
Playing for the Cowboys' Youth Team
In 2015, Gideon joined the North Queensland Cowboys and played for their NYC team. He had an amazing season, scoring 39 tries in 25 games. This broke the record for the most tries in a single NYC season! He was also picked for the Queensland under-20 team and was named in the NYC Team of the Year. In August 2015, he signed a new contract with the Cowboys.
Gideon continued to play for the Cowboys' NYC team in 2016. He was again named in the NYC Team of the Year and played for the Queensland under-20 side. By the end of his time in the NYC, he had scored 53 tries in 44 games.
Making it to the NRL
In 2017, Gideon joined the Cowboys' main NRL squad. He played in the Auckland Nines tournament, scoring 6 tries and being named in the Team of the Tournament. He started the season playing for the Northern Pride, a team linked to the Cowboys.
Gideon made his big NRL debut in Round 4 of the 2017 NRL season. He even scored a try in his first game against the Gold Coast Titans. Later that year, he signed another contract with the Cowboys until the end of the 2019 season.
Later Seasons
In 2018, Gideon mostly played for the Northern Pride. He scored 10 tries in 11 games for them. He then returned to the Cowboys' NRL team for the last four games of the season, scoring three more tries.
In 2019, Gideon played only three games for the Cowboys. He spent most of the season with the Northern Pride. In one game, he broke his collarbone. On September 13, 2019, it was announced that he would not be staying with the Cowboys.
