"Gideon Rises" is the exciting final episode of the first season of the animated TV show, Gravity Falls. It first aired on August 2, 2013, on the Disney Channel. The episode was directed by John Aoshima and Joe Pitt. The story was written by Alex Hirsch, Matt Chapman, and Michael Rianda.
The show is about twins named Dipper and Mabel. They spend their summer vacation in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls. Here, they discover many strange and paranormal things. This episode is the second part of the season one finale. It continues the story from the previous episode, "Dreamscaperers". Dipper and Mabel, along with their great uncle Stan and friend Soos, try to get their house back. Their enemy, Gideon Gleeful, has stolen it.

The Story of Gideon Rises
Gideon Takes Over
Gideon Gleeful has taken over the Mystery Shack. This forces the Pines family to move in with Soos. They stay at his grandmother's house. Gideon holds a press conference. He announces his plan to turn the Mystery Shack into his own theme park. He calls it Gideonland. The Pines family watches this on TV. They try to tell the town that Gideon is bad. But no one believes them. Mabel worries about where they will live.
Meanwhile, at the Mystery Shack, Gideon talks to his father. He reveals a secret about his journal. The journal says it was written long ago. A smart, unknown author learned Gravity Falls' secrets. These secrets were too powerful for one person. So, the author hid the journals. He knew that putting them together would open a "gateway of unimaginable power." Gideon doesn't know there are three journals, not two. He believes the codes and maps in his journal point to another book. He thinks it's hidden somewhere on the Mystery Shack property.
Dipper and Mabel's Plan
Dipper and Mabel are told they must leave Gravity Falls. They are supposed to take the next bus out of town. But they have their own journal, number 3. With its help, they come up with a plan. They decide to gather the gnomes. These gnomes had tried to kidnap Mabel earlier that summer. The twins hope the gnomes can help them get the shack back.
However, Gideon stops the gnomes. He uses a special pig whistle. The gnomes grab Dipper and Mabel. Dipper drops the third journal. Gideon quickly picks it up. Dipper and Mabel then leave town on the bus.
The Giant Robot Chase
Back at the Mystery Shack, Gideon is very happy. He has the journal he stole from Dipper. But then he realizes it's journal number 3. He thinks Dipper is trying to get the first journal out of town. So, Gideon gets into a giant robot that looks like him. He chases after their bus.
Dipper and Mabel see the Gideon-bot. They tell the bus driver, Soos, to drive faster. Gideon chases them and traps the bus. It gets stuck at the edge of a cliff. Dipper and Mabel escape the bus. But Gideon corners them. Gideon grabs Mabel and throws Dipper aside. He plans to rule Gravity Falls with Mabel as his queen.
The Showdown
Dipper bravely jumps off the cliff. He lands inside the Gideon-bot. He and Gideon start to fight. Dipper manages to beat Gideon. But the robot loses its balance. It falls off the bridge. Luckily, Mabel saves herself and Dipper. She uses her grappling hook.
A large crowd gathers around the robot. Gideon lies to them. He says Dipper and Mabel tried to kill him. The police get ready to arrest the twins. But then Stan shows up. He reveals that Gideon is a fake. Stan explains that Gideon uses hidden video cameras. These cameras are inside the pins he gives out. He uses them to spy on everyone in town.
The police arrest Gideon. Stan takes the deed to the Mystery Shack from him. He also takes journal number 2. The Pines family returns to the Mystery Shack. They start putting their things back in their room. Stan comes to check on them. Dipper and Mabel tell Stan they were talking. They want to show Stan the journal. They say they finally trust him. Stan laughs. He says everything the twins told him was just from reading the book. Then, he takes the journal.
Stan's Secret
Later that night, Stan takes journal number 3. He then opens a secret passage. It is hidden behind the Mystery Shack vending machine. He walks into a hidden laboratory. He goes down an elevator. Stan reveals that he had journal number 1 all along. He places the three books together. Each book is opened to a special page. These pages show the blueprint for a machine. He uses codes from the pages to start the machine. As the episode ends, he simply says, "Here we go!"
