Dipper's Summer Adventures
Dipper is a 12-year-old boy. He and his twin sister, Mabel, spend their summer vacation in a strange place. This place is their great uncle's "tourist trap" called "The Mystery Shack." Dipper wants to find out all the secrets of the town of Gravity Falls. He also looks for answers to all the weird things that happen there.
Mabel, his super cheerful twin, often helps him. Soos, the handyman at the Shack, also joins their adventures. They often meet or deal with many strange creatures. These include gnomes, cryptids (hidden animals), demons, and even aliens.
Dipper uses a special journal to solve these mysteries. It's a big, red book with a gold six-fingered hand and the number "3" on the cover. He found it in the forest. This journal describes many of the supernatural events in Gravity Falls. In one episode, "Scary-oke," he finds even more hidden notes in the journal. These notes only show up under a black light!
Dipper is very brave and determined for his age. He really wants to solve all the mysteries he finds in Gravity Falls. This often causes some disagreements with his great uncle, Grunkle Stan.
Who is Dipper Pines?

Dipper Pines is a smart and curious boy. He comes from Piedmont, California. He has to spend his summer with his great uncle Stan. This happens in the made-up town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. His twin sister, Mabel Pines, is with him.
Dipper is shown as being very clever and logical. He knows a lot about history, cryptography (secret codes), and solving puzzles. Even though Mabel can sometimes be annoying, Dipper will always protect her.
When he first arrived in Gravity Falls, Dipper was not happy. He thought it would be a small, boring town. But then he found the third of three journals. These journals were written by his great uncle, Stanford "Ford" Pines. This made him interested in mysteries and adventures. He started to like life in Gravity Falls. He also encouraged Mabel to join him in finding out the town's supernatural secrets. Dipper is very organized. He often makes good plans for his friends and family to follow.
Dipper's Look and Name
Dipper always wears a special white and blue cap. It has a blue pine tree symbol on the front. He got this cap from the Mystery Shack's gift shop. He also wears a navy blue vest, a reddish-orange T-shirt, gray shorts, and black sneakers.
In the episode "Double Dipper," we learn where his nickname comes from. He has a birthmark on his forehead. It looks like the Big Dipper constellation. He usually hides it with his bangs.
Dipper's real first name is Mason. This name is only seen briefly in one episode. In "Dungeons, Dungeons & More Dungeons," it's written messily on a piece of paper. Mabel sees it when Dipper spends a lot of time with Ford. In the book Gravity Falls: Journal 3, Dipper tells Ford his name is Mason.
Dipper's Crush
Starting with the episode "The Inconveniencing," Dipper has a crush on Wendy Corduroy. She is 15 years old and works at the Mystery Shack. But his attempts to win her over often get interrupted. This happens because of accidents or strange supernatural events.
In the episode "Into the Bunker," Wendy realizes Dipper likes her. She tells him that she is too old for him. But they stay very close friends.
