This tourist spot is in the made-up town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. In this final episode, Stan's brother, Ford, learns about the evil plans of Bill Cipher. The Mystery Shack group then creates a plan to fight back. They want to take back their town from Bill. The story ends with a big fight against Bill. This battle decides the future of the Pines family and involves a huge sacrifice.

"Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls" first aired on February 15, 2016. It was shown on Disney XD. About 2.47 million homes in the United States watched it. This made it the most-watched show ever on Disney XD. It even beat another popular Gravity Falls episode, "A Tale of Two Stans."

The Story: Taking Back Gravity Falls

Returning to the Mystery Shack

Dipper, Mabel, Soos, and Wendy get back to the Mystery Shack. They find Stan there with some town residents. Many strange creatures they befriended are also hiding inside. Stan explains that unicorn hair protects the Shack. Ford had lined the building with it, keeping Bill's powers out. Stan thinks they should just wait for Bill to leave. But the others want to rescue the townspeople. They learn that Bill's eye bats are turning people into stone. These stone people are then stacked up to make a throne for Bill.

Building a Giant Robot

Old Man McGucket leads the survivors. They decide to turn the Mystery Shack into a giant robot. This huge robot is called the "Shacktron." They travel to Bill's main base. The Shacktron easily defeats Bill's smaller helpers. Bill himself comes out to fight the robot. The Shacktron manages to tear out one of Bill's eyes. This makes Bill temporarily blind.

Inside Bill's Pyramid

Dipper and Mabel lead a small team into Bill's base. They break apart Bill's throne. This frees all the townspeople who were turned to stone. Ford then draws a special Zodiac wheel on the ground. He had learned that this symbol could defeat Bill. The wheel needs ten specific people to stand on it. Each person represents a symbol that Ford recently figured out. They must hold hands in a circle.

A Family Argument

Stan refuses to join the Zodiac wheel at first. He wants Ford to apologize for letting Bill succeed. He also wants Ford to thank him for rescuing him. Ford finally apologizes and thanks Stan. As Stan joins the circle, Ford quietly corrects Stan's grammar. This makes Stan and Ford start to fight. Before they can be stopped, Bill appears. He has grown his eye back and destroyed the Shacktron.

Bill's Threat and a Big Decision

Bill burns the Zodiac wheel. He captures the Pines family. He turns the other people into tapestries. This stops them from helping. Bill then threatens to hurt Dipper and Mabel. He says he will only stop if Ford lets him into his mind. Bill wants to find out how to leave Gravity Falls. Dipper and Mabel manage to escape. Bill chases after them.

Stan and Ford are left alone. They have a serious talk. Ford knows there is a way to defeat Bill. They can use a memory gun to erase him from someone's mind. But Ford believes he must let Bill into his own mind. He thinks this is the only way to save the kids. Ford has a metal plate in his head, so his own memories cannot be erased.

The Ultimate Sacrifice

Dipper and Mabel lead Bill on a chase. But Bill eventually catches them. He brings them back to the throne room. Bill threatens to hurt one of the twins. Ford agrees to let Bill into his mind. Bill leaves his physical body, which turns to stone. He enters Ford's mind, which looks like an empty space with one door.

Bill goes through the door. He is shocked to find Stan's mind waiting for him. Stan reveals that he and Ford secretly switched places. This tricked Bill into entering Stan's mind. Stan's mind can be erased by the memory gun. Stan says he is willing to lose his memories to save the world and his family. In the real world, Ford sadly fires the memory gun at Stan. Bill starts to get weaker. Stan's mind then punches Bill. Bill is destroyed as Stan's memories are erased.

After Bill's Defeat

After Bill is gone, the portal to his dimension closes. His helpers and base are pulled back into it. Gravity Falls returns to normal. Stan's family and Soos take him back to the damaged Mystery Shack. They hope seeing the building will help him remember. Mabel finds her scrapbook. She shows Stan all the fun they had that summer. Slowly, Stan's memories start to come back.

Life After Weirdmageddon

Over the next week, the town deals with any remaining strange events. The mayor passes a law called the "Never Mind All That Act." This helps everyone feel better. The Northwest family loses their money and mansion. McGucket moves into their old home. Gideon Gleeful promises to act more like a normal boy. Many townspeople join Dipper and Mabel's friends. They celebrate the twins' 13th birthday at the Shack.

Ford offers to sail around the world with Stan. This was a dream they had as boys. But Stan says he would have to close the Shack. This disappoints the townspeople. The Shack brings many tourists to their town. Stan then happily names Soos the new manager of the Shack.

Saying Goodbye

Later, Stan, Ford, Soos, Wendy, Candy, and Grenda say goodbye to Dipper and Mabel. Their bus arrives to take them home. Wendy trades hats with Dipper. She gives him an envelope to open on the bus. The bus drives away as everyone waves. The twins think about their summer in Gravity Falls. Later scenes show Soos successfully running the Shack with his girlfriend, Melody. Stan and Ford are seen sailing at sea. When the bus leaves the town limits, Dipper opens Wendy's letter. Inside are signatures from their friends and great uncles. They promise to see them next summer.

The show's credits include a video of the twins' summer. It ends with their arrival back home in Piedmont, California. After the credits, there is a short live-action scene. Bill's stone body is seen partly buried in the woods.

Making the Episode

Why the Show Ended

"Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls" is the final episode of Gravity Falls. Alex Hirsch created the show. He wrote this episode with Mark Rizzo, Jeff Rowe, Shion Takeuchi, and Josh Weinstein. Stephen Sandoval directed it.

On November 20, 2015, Alex Hirsch announced on his Tumblr page that Gravity Falls would end. He explained that Disney was not canceling the show. It was his choice to finish it. He had made this decision a long time ago. Hirsch said he always planned Gravity Falls to be a story about one amazing summer. He wanted it to have a clear beginning, middle, and end. He did not want the show to go on forever and lose its special spark. He felt that childhood ends, and that's what makes the show so precious.

The episode features many guest voice actors. Some had appeared on the show before. These include Cecil Baldwin as Tad Strange and Nathan Fillion as Preston Northwest. J. K.
