Danielle Christine Fishel (born May 5, 1981) is an American actress and director. She started acting in plays like The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan. Soon after, she appeared in TV shows such as Full House and Harry and the Hendersons.

In 1993, Danielle became famous for playing Topanga Lawrence on the TV show Boy Meets World. This show was very popular and ran until 2000. She played Topanga again in the follow-up series Girl Meets World, which aired from 2014 to 2017.

While working on Girl Meets World, Danielle also began directing TV episodes. She has directed for many other shows, including Raven's Home, Coop & Cami Ask the World, and Sydney to the Max. She also hosted The Dish on the Style Network.

Danielle Fishel was born in Mesa, Arizona. Her mother, Jennifer, was a personal manager, and her father, Rick Fishel, was a business president. She has some Maltese family background. Danielle finished high school in Calabasas, California, in 1999.

Danielle's Career Journey

Starting Out in Acting: 1991–1998

Danielle was discovered when she was 10 years old, performing in plays like The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan. She quickly started doing voiceovers and commercials, including some for Barbie dolls. She also had guest roles on popular shows like Full House and Harry and the Hendersons. Her mother became her full-time manager to help with her career.

In 1993, at age 12, Danielle got the role of Topanga Lawrence-Matthews on the TV series Boy Meets World. Her character, Topanga, was first meant to be a small part. But she became a regular character because she was so popular. Topanga was known for being smart and mature. The show was a big hit and finished in 2000 after seven years.

Danielle was featured in many teen magazines during this time. She won a Young Star award in 1998 for her acting in a TV comedy. She also appeared in a music video for the song "Until You Loved Me" by the group The Moffatts.

Hosting and Films: 2003–2011

After Boy Meets World, Danielle continued to work in television. In 2003, she co-hosted Say What? Karaoke on MTV. She also acted in several movies, including National Lampoon Presents Dorm Daze and its sequel, National Lampoon's Dorm Daze 2. She also did voice work for an animated film called The Chosen One.

In 2006, Danielle appeared on The Tyra Banks Show. She became a spokesperson for Nutrisystem, a company that helps people with their diet. From 2008 to 2011, she hosted The Dish for the Style Network. This show made fun of pop culture, similar to another show called The Soup.

Current Work and Directing: 2013–Present

In 2014, Danielle returned to her role as Topanga Lawrence-Matthews in Girl Meets World. This show was a spin-off of Boy Meets World. It showed Topanga and Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) as adults, married with two children. The story followed their daughter, Riley (Rowan Blanchard), as she navigated middle school life. The series ended in 2017.

Danielle has also become a successful director. She directed four episodes of Girl Meets World. Since then, she has directed many episodes for other popular shows. These include Sydney to the Max, Raven's Home, The Villains of Valley View, and Lopez vs Lopez.

Since 2022, Danielle has hosted a podcast called Pod Meets World. She hosts it with her former Boy Meets World co-stars, Rider Strong and Will Friedle. On August 19, 2024, Danielle shared on her podcast that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Danielle's Personal Life

When Danielle was 27, she started attending California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). She graduated in 2013. While studying, she met Tim Belusko, a fellow student. They got engaged in 2012 and married in Los Angeles on October 19, 2013. They later divorced in 2016.

On July 4, 2017, Danielle started dating Jensen Karp. They got engaged in March 2018 and married on November 4, 2018. Their first son was born on June 24, 2019. He arrived a month early and needed to stay in the hospital for three weeks. Danielle and Jensen welcomed their second son on August 29, 2021.
