Andy Merrill is an American voice actor, writer, and producer. He is best known for giving voice to the character Brak in popular shows like Space Ghost Coast to Coast, The Brak Show, and Cartoon Planet. He also voiced Oglethorpe in Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Andy Merrill's Career in Animation

Andy Merrill started working at Cartoon Network in 1992. He helped create and produce many animated shows. He is famous for his unique voice acting.

Working on Space Ghost Coast to Coast

In 1993, Andy Merrill helped create Space Ghost Coast to Coast. This was one of the first animated late-night talk shows. It starred Space Ghost, a superhero from the 1960s, who hosted a talk show. His old enemies, Zorak and Moltar, were the band leader and director.

The show first aired in April 1994. Andy Merrill helped write and produce it for many years. He also voiced characters like Brak and Lokar. Brak became a very popular character. Space Ghost Coast to Coast was a big reason why Adult Swim started in 2001.

Andy Merrill was good friends with his co-stars, including George Lowe and C. Martin Croker. When C. Martin Croker passed away in 2016, Adult Swim honored him by showing an episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

Creating Cartoon Planet

In 1995, Cartoon Planet began. Andy Merrill wrote and produced this show too. He also voiced Brak, who was one of the main characters. Cartoon Planet featured Space Ghost, Zorak, and Brak. It was a show filled with funny skits and songs.

At first, the show used skits and songs as short breaks between old cartoons. But the skits and songs became very popular. Brak's personality grew, and fans loved him. Eventually, Cartoon Planet became a show entirely made of skits and songs.

Brak's Own Shows

Brak became so popular that he got his own spin-off shows. In 2000, two special variety shows called Brak Presents the Brak Show Starring Brak aired. These specials had new animation and songs.

Later, in 2001, a new cartoon called The Brak Show premiered on Adult Swim. This show was a funny parody of old sitcoms. Andy Merrill continued to voice Brak in this series, which ran for three seasons.

More recently, Andy Merrill voiced Brak again in an episode of Jellystone!. This show is also based on classic Hanna-Barbera characters.
