Glasgow Pollok (in Gaelic: Glaschu Pollaig) is a special area in Scotland that chooses one person to represent it in the Scottish Parliament (also known as Holyrood). This person is called a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP). They are chosen using a system called "First Past the Post", which means the candidate with the most votes wins.
Currently, the MSP for Glasgow Pollok is Humza Yousaf. He has been the MSP for this area since the 2016 Scottish Parliament election. Since March 2023, he has also been the First Minister of Scotland, which is like being the leader of the Scottish Government.
Glasgow Pollok is one of eight areas within the Glasgow City local council area. It is also one of nine areas in the wider Glasgow electoral region. This region also elects seven extra MSPs, called "additional members," to help make sure that the number of MSPs for each party roughly matches the total votes they received. This system helps create a fairer way of representing everyone.
