  • Ashley McElhiney is a talented basketball player. She went to Gleason School and won the Tennessee State 1A Miss Basketball award in 1999. After playing basketball at Vanderbilt University, she made history. She became the first female manager of a male professional basketball team, the Nashville Rhythm.

Gleason School

One of the most important buildings in town is Gleason School. This school teaches students from Pre-Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. In 2017, about 470 students attended the school.

The school is divided into three main parts:

  • The Elementary School, for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
  • The Junior High School, for students in 6th through 8th grade.
  • The High School, for students in 9th through 12th grade.

The girls' high school basketball team, known as the Lady Bulldogs, has won the State Championship three times! They won in 1992, 1999, and 2007.
