Glen Plake (born September 9, 1964) is a famous American skier. He is even in the US National Ski Hall of Fame! Glen grew up skiing in Lake Tahoe at a place called Heavenly Valley. He became well-known for appearing in exciting ski films, like The Blizzard of Aahhhs by Greg Stump. ESPN has called Glen Plake a pioneer of extreme skiing in America. He also hosted a TV show called Reel Thrills on RSN.
Glen Plake married his wife Kimberly in 1991.
Glen Plake's Amazing Ski Achievements
Glen Plake has had many exciting moments and achievements in his career:
- In 2006, Glen started working with a Slovenian ski company called Elan. He helps them design and develop new skis.
- He is a three-time World Hot Dog Ski champion! This is a type of freestyle skiing.
- In 2003, Glen received a special medal from the Ski Club of Great Britain. It was given to him for his huge impact on snow sports.
- In 2009, Glen became the spokesperson for "Learn a Snowsport Month." This event encourages more people to try skiing, snowboarding, and other snow activities.
- In 2010, Glen Plake was added to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. This is a big honor for skiers!
- In 2012, Glen survived a dangerous avalanche in Nepal. He was planning to ski down Manaslu, a very tall mountain, without extra oxygen.
- From 2018 to 2019, Glen co-hosted a TV show on History channel called Truck Night in America.
- In 2022, Glen Plake appeared briefly in a TV commercial for Ikon Pass, a popular ski pass.
