Glencora McGhie (born Glencora Ralph on 8 August 1988) is an amazing Australian water polo player. She plays in the centre back/driver positions. Glencora has won many medals, including a bronze at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She also competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
She plays for the Fremantle Marlins in the Australian National Water Polo League. Her team has won several championships. Glencora has been a key member of the Australia women's national water polo team at both junior and senior levels.

About Glencora McGhie
Glencora Ralph was born in Geraldton, Western Australia. She has three siblings, and her sister Mercedes also played water polo for Australia. Glencora is 176 cm (5 ft 9 in) tall and weighs 67 kilograms (148 lb). She is right-handed.
Besides water polo, she used to swim competitively. However, she found swimming boring and decided to focus on water polo. Glencora studied at the Curtin University of Technology. She became a dental therapist, which is her job today. She even took a break from international water polo in 2007 to finish her studies. Glencora is now known as Glencora McGhie and has three children.
Glencora's Water Polo Journey
Glencora started playing water polo when she was thirteen. Her first competition was the Melville Flippaball Competition. She received a special scholarship from the Western Australian Institute of Sport for water polo. She plays in the centre back and driver spots. Glencora likes to wear cap number eight during games. When she was younger, she would wake up at 4 AM to train in the pool. This shows how dedicated she was!
Playing for Clubs
Glencora plays for the Melville Water Polo Club. She also plays for the Fremantle Marlins in Australia's top league, the National Water Polo League. Her team has won the Australian Waterpolo League (AWL) championship many times. They won in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2014. In 2007, she was only eighteen years old when her team won.
In 2010, she was coached by Wendy Arancini. Wendy is the mother of Zoe Arancini, who is also a national team player. Glencora was named to the league's All-Star team in 2010. Her team finished third that year.
In February 2023, Glencora made history. She became the first woman to play 350 games in the AWL! She said that water polo is now her "me" time, especially since she has three kids. As of 2024, she is still playing for the Fremantle Marlins.
Playing for Australia: Junior Team
Glencora has played for Australia's junior national team. She was part of the junior team at the 2007 FINA U20 World Championships. This event was held in Porto, Portugal. Her team won a gold medal there! She was one of only two players from Western Australia on that winning team.
Playing for Australia: Senior Team
Glencora McGhie has been a key player for the Australia women's national water polo team, known as the Stingers. She first played for the senior team in China in 2006. This was during the early rounds of the FINA World League. She played in another tournament that year because some teammates were injured.
In 2009, she helped the team finish third at the FINA World League Super Finals in Kirishi, Russia. The team also placed sixth at the FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy. In 2010, she was part of the national team that played in Japan and China. Australia finished second in that tournament. Later in 2010, she won a silver medal with the Stingers at the FINA World Cup in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Glencora scored two goals when Australia beat Greece 11–7. She also scored two goals in Australia's 10–8 win against Russia. At the 2011 Canada Cup, she scored a goal in the gold medal match against China, which Australia won. She was even named to the All-Star team for the 2011 Canada Cup.
In July 2011, she played for the Stingers at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai. She trained in Perth, Western Australia, to get ready for this event. In January 2012, she competed in the Pan Pacific Championships.
In 2012, Glencora was part of the Stingers team that played five games against Great Britain. This was at the AIS. It was the first time in six years that Australia played Great Britain's national team. She was a vital part of the Stingers team that won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
She also competed at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona. The Stingers won a silver medal there, losing to the host nation in the final. Glencora also played at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia. The Stingers finished fourth after losing in the semifinal. The next year, she was part of the team at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where they finished sixth.
