What Was Glendale Cove?
Glendale Cove is located on the south side of Knight Inlet. Knight Inlet is a long, narrow arm of the sea on the British Columbia Coast. This area is known for its beautiful natural scenery.
The Fish Cannery
A cannery is a factory where food, like fish, is put into cans to preserve it. At Glendale Cove, there was once a fish canning factory. This factory was owned by a company called Francis Millerd & Co.. It was located on the east side of the cove.

Before the cannery was built, the area around Glendale Cove was home to Indigenous peoples.
The Kwakwaka'wakw People
Near Glendale Cove, there was an old village called Zalidis. This village belonged to the Kwakwaka'wakw people. The Kwakwaka'wakw are a group of First Nations from the Pacific Northwest Coast. They have a rich history and culture in this region.
