The Glenlyon Dam, also known as Pike Creek Reservoir, is a large water storage area in Queensland, Australia. It is located close to the border with New South Wales. You can find it roughly between the towns of Stanthorpe and Texas.
The dam wall was built in 1976. It holds back the waters of Pike Creek. This creek is a branch of the Dumaresq River. The dam is about 5 kilometers (3 miles) upstream from where the Mole River and Severn River join the Dumaresq.

Dam Water Levels
Like many places in Australia, the dam can be affected by dry weather. In the middle of 1994, the dam's water level was very low. It was only at 5% of its full capacity. The next year, during a series of droughts, it only rose to 12%. This shows how important rain is for the dam.
Fishing at Glenlyon Dam
Glenlyon Dam is a popular spot for fishing. The dam is regularly filled with young fish. This process is called fish stocking. You can find several types of fish here. These include golden perch, murray cod, and silver perch.
Other fish also live and breed naturally in the dam. These include spangled perch, bony bream, and eel-tailed catfish. If you want to fish at Glenlyon Dam, you need a special permit. It is called a Stocked Impoundment Permit.
