History of Glenworth Valley

Early Indigenous Life

The history of Glenworth Valley and Popran Creek is very old. It includes times before and after Europeans arrived. Indigenous people lived here for thousands of years. They were from the 'Daruk' and 'Darkinyung' communities.

These groups moved around the lower Hawkesbury region. They would hunt animals and fish in the valleys. This was their way of life.

European Settlement and Activities

After Europeans first explored the area, new activities began. People started cutting down timber. They also set up small farms. Dairying, which is raising cows for milk, became important. Fishing was another key activity.

Some families stayed in the Mangrove and Glenworth Valley area. They lived there for many generations. This shows how important the land was to them.
