Gloria Moure is an expert from Spain who studies and writes about art. She is an art historian, a critic, a curator, and an editor. She lives in Barcelona.

About Gloria Moure

Gloria Moure studied Art History at the University of Barcelona. She earned her highest degree, a doctorate, by writing about modern art and the artist Sigmar Polke.

She started her career in 1977 as a freelance curator. A curator is someone who plans and organizes art exhibitions. Her first exhibition was called Richard Hamilton–Dieter Roth at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona.

In 1984, she organized a very important exhibition about the famous artist Marcel Duchamp. This show traveled to several big museums. These included the Fundació Miró in Barcelona, la Caixa in Madrid, and the Ludwig Museum in Cologne.

Leading Art Centers

From 1989 to 1995, Gloria Moure was the director of the Fundació Espai Poblenou in Barcelona. During this time, she brought many famous artists to Spain for their first exhibitions there. Some of these artists were Lawrence Weiner, Rodney Graham, Sigmar Polke, Richard Long, John Cage, Bruce Nauman, Mario Merz, and Jannis Kounellis.

In 1994, she became the director of the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea (CGAC) in Santiago de Compostela. She held this position until 1998. She helped make this center a well-known place for modern art around the world. She organized big exhibitions for artists like Dan Graham, Vito Acconci, Medardo Rosso, Ana Mendieta, Félix Gonzalez-Torres, Giovanni Anselmo, and Christian Boltanski. She also worked on special projects with Anish Kapoor and Juan Muñoz.

Other Important Roles

From 1993 to 1997, Gloria Moure was part of a special committee for the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. This museum is one of Spain's most important art museums.

She also helped plan art projects for public spaces. In 1992, she curated Urban Configurations for the Barcelona Olympic Games. This project included works by artists such as Lothar Baumgarten, Rebecca Horn, Jannis Kounellis, Mario Merz, Juan Muñoz, Jaume Plensa, Ulrich Rückriem, and James Turrell. Later, for Forum 2004, she curated works by Cristina Iglesias, Tony Oursler, and Eulàlia Valldosera.

Today, she works as an editor at Ediciones Polígrafa. She leads a series of books called "20/21 Collection." These books are about modern artists. She has published books like Marcel Broodthaers: Collected Writings (2012), An Art of Limina. Gary Hill’s Works and Writings (2009), Dan Graham’s Works and Writings (2009), Jeff Wall (2007), Robert Wilson (2003), and Sigmar Polke (2005).
