"Glory Days" is a popular song by American rock singer Bruce Springsteen. It was released in 1985 as the fifth single from his famous 1984 album, Born in the U.S.A. The song is about looking back at the past and remembering fun times.
The Music Video
The music video for "Glory Days" was filmed in May 1985. It was shot in different places around New Jersey. The video was directed by John Sayles.
In the video, Bruce Springsteen plays the main character from the song. He talks to his young son and plays baseball. He pretends to pitch against an imaginary team. This baseball scene was filmed at Miller Park Stadium in West New York, New Jersey.
The video also shows Springsteen and his band, the E Street Band, performing the song in a bar. These scenes were filmed at a place called Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Even though Steven Van Zandt had left the band earlier, he came back to be in this video. Also, two newer band members, Nils Lofgren and Patti Scialfa, were featured. Springsteen's wife at the time, Julianne Phillips, also made a short appearance.
The "Glory Days" music video started playing on MTV in June 1985. It was shown very often. The video was nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards in 1986. These were for Best Male Video and Best Overall Performance. The video also includes clips of baseball pitcher Dwight Gooden playing in real games.
