Julianne Phillips (born May 6, 1960) is an American who used to be a model and actress. She started her career as a model in the early 1980s. Later, she became an actress. She became well-known as the first wife of famous musician Bruce Springsteen. She was also famous for her role as Francesca "Frankie" Reed in the TV show Sisters from 1991 to 1996.

Julianne Phillips's Early Life
Julianne Phillips was born in Evanston, Illinois. She was the youngest of six children in her family. Her father, William Phillips, worked in insurance. Her mother's name was Ann. Julianne has four older brothers and one older sister.
When she was young, her family moved to Oregon. They settled in a town called Lake Oswego, near Portland. This is where she grew up.
Julianne graduated from Lake Oswego High School. She then went to Brooks College in Long Beach, California.
How Julianne Phillips Started Her Career
After college, Julianne Phillips went back to Oregon. She started acting in local plays. This led to her signing with Elite Modeling Agency in 1982. The agency thought she was a "perfect-ten." She could earn as much as $2,000 a day as a model.
After modeling in New York City, Phillips moved to Los Angeles. There, she appeared in a .38 Special music video. The song was called "If I'd Been the One." This helped her get acting roles. Julianne Phillips kept acting during and after her marriage. She appeared in several movies. These included Odd Jobs (1986), Sweet Lies (1988), and Seven Hours to Judgment (1988). In 1989, she starred with Chevy Chase in Fletch Lives. She also acted with John Ritter in Skin Deep.
Two years later, she took on the role of Frankie Reed. This was a business-focused character on the TV show Sisters. This became her most famous role. She left the show at the end of its fifth season in 1995. She came back for the very last episode in 1996. After Sisters, she returned to movies for a short time. She appeared in Big Bully (1996), Colin Fitz Lives! (1997), and Allie & Me (1997). She was also in the TV disaster movie Tidal Wave: No Escape (1997).

Julianne Phillips stopped acting in 1997. She has rarely been seen in public since then. In 2001, she was interviewed for a TV show called Intimate Portrait. This episode was about her Sisters co-star Sela Ward.
