The Golden Gaytime is a super popular ice cream treat from Australia. It's called Cookie Crumble in New Zealand. This yummy snack was first made by the Streets company way back in 1959.
It's a special ice cream with a mix of toffee and vanilla flavors. It's covered in a layer of chocolate and then rolled in crunchy vanilla biscuit "crumbs." All of this deliciousness is served on a wooden stick, making it easy to eat! The name "Gaytime" has been around for a long time, and it simply means a happy and fun time.

Different Kinds of Golden Gaytime
Over the years, Golden Gaytime has come out in many different forms, not just on a stick!
In 2015, Streets started selling Golden Gaytime in big tubs, just like regular ice cream. You could even buy a separate tub of just the famous crumbs!
Then, in 2016, they made a special Golden Gaytime that was shaped like a Cornetto cone. They called it the Golden Gaynetto.
In 2017, they introduced the Golden Gaytime Sanga. "Sanga" is Australian slang for sandwich, so it was an ice cream sandwich version. They also made a colorful version that year.
In 2020, some special pop-up shops opened in Melbourne and Sydney. These shops offered unique crumb toppings for your Golden Gaytime. You could try flavors like musk sticks, strawberry candy, popping candy, or even edible glitter! There were also options with pretzel bits and salted caramel drizzle.
Golden Gaytime has also teamed up with other companies to create new products. You might have seen Gaytime-flavored Krispy Kreme donuts or Gaytime Coco Pops cereal. There are even baking mixes like mousse, cake, brownies, and brookies that taste like Golden Gaytime!
Golden Gaytime Flavors
Many different flavors of Golden Gaytime have been released, especially since the mid-2010s. Some flavors were only available in certain stores, like the Krispy Kreme doughnut flavored one, which was first sold only at 7-Eleven stores in Australia.
In September 2022, a plant-based version was introduced. This means it's suitable for vegans and doesn't contain animal products. Unlike many limited-edition flavors, the plant-based option has become a regular part of their lineup.

Golden Gaytime Advertising
Streets has always used fun and catchy slogans for Golden Gaytime. Since the 1980s, their famous tagline has been: "It's hard to have a Gaytime on your own."
In 2015, old commercials from the 1980s were even reused to celebrate the new flavors. The boxes of Golden Gaytimes you buy for home often say, "4 delicious chances to have a gay time." In 2009, Streets started showing some of these classic TV commercials again.
Golden Gaytime in Pop Culture
The Golden Gaytime ice cream is very well-known in Australia. Its unique name has sometimes led to discussions.
In early 2021, there was an online discussion about changing the product's name. However, many people disagreed with this idea, and the original suggestion to rename it was withdrawn. Streets has clearly stated that they will not change the name of the product.
