Goldilocks Bakeshop started on May 15, 1966. Three amazing women, Milagros Leelin Yee, Clarita Leelin Go, and Doris Wilson Leelin, opened the very first store. It was in Makati, Philippines, and they began with just 10 employees. The first shop was about 70-square-meter (750 sq ft) in size.

Just ten years later, in 1976, Goldilocks opened its first international store! This was in Los Angeles, United States. In 1991, they started a program that let other people open Goldilocks stores. This helped hundreds of new bakeries pop up all over the Philippines. More stores soon opened in California cities like San Francisco and San Jose. You could also find Goldilocks in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In 2018, a big company called SM Investments bought a part of Goldilocks Bakeshop. By 2021, SM Investments owned most of the company. In 2024, Goldilocks announced plans to open 60 more stores. This would bring their total number of branches to 986!

Where to Find Goldilocks Stores

Goldilocks has many stores around the world. In 2019, there were over 900 full-service stores in the Philippines alone. You could also find them in other countries. There were 6 stores in Thailand, 10 in California, and 1 in Nevada, USA. Plus, there were 2 stores in Canada.

The Goldilocks Name

The name "Goldilocks Bakeshop" comes from the fairy tale character Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The founders chose this name because they thought it would be easy for children and their mothers to remember. The name also sounded like "gold" and "luck," which they believed would bring good fortune to the business. The idea for the name came from the founders' sister, Maria Flor.

In 2010, Goldilocks updated its look and logo. This is called re-branding.
