Get ready for the exciting golf tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris! These events took place from August 1 to 10, 2024. The games were held at Le Golf National in Guyancourt, France.

A total of 120 golfers competed. There were 60 men and 60 women. They played in two separate medal events. The way players qualified and the game format were the same as in the last two Olympics. Each event was a four-day competition. It was a 72-hole individual stroke play tournament. The men's event was from August 1 to 4. The women's event followed from August 7 to 10.

How Golfers Qualified for Paris 2024

Sixty men and sixty women earned their spots for the Paris 2024 golf tournaments. They qualified based on their official world rankings. These rankings were set by the IGF. The men's ranking list was final on June 17, 2024. The women's list was final on June 24, 2024.

The top 15 golfers in the world were chosen first. However, each country could send a maximum of four players. After the top 15, other spots were given to players ranked 16th and lower. For these spots, a country could send a maximum of two players. The IGF also made sure that at least one golfer from the host country (France) qualified. Plus, at least one golfer from each major region of the world (Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania) also got a spot.

The Golf Course: Le Golf National

The golf events took place at Le Golf National. This famous course is in Guyancourt, France. It's well-known for hosting the European Tour's Open de France. This is the oldest national golf tournament in Continental Europe.

Le Golf National has also hosted other big events. It held the World Amateur Team Championships in 1994 and 2022. In 2018, it made history. It was the first French course to host the Ryder Cup. Both the men's and women's Olympic events were played on the main course. This course is called the Albatros Course. For men, it was a par 71 course. For women, it was a par 72 course.
