Gonzalez is a community in Escambia County, Florida. It's a "census-designated place" (CDP), which means it's an area that looks like a town but isn't officially governed by its own local government. Gonzalez is located just north of Pensacola. It's also considered part of Cantonment. One of the biggest schools in the county, Tate High School, is found here.
In 2020, Gonzalez had a population of 14,586 people. This was an increase from 13,273 people counted in 2010. Gonzalez is part of the larger Pensacola—Ferry Pass—Brent, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History of Gonzalez
The community of Gonzalez was named after the Gonzalez family. They owned a farm in the area a long time ago. The family's leader, Manuel Gonzalez, came from Spain around 1790. He worked as an "Indian Agent" in New Orleans. This job meant he helped manage relationships between the government and Native American tribes. Later, he moved to Pensacola.
Gonzalez During the Civil War
During the American Civil War, Gonzalez played a small role. Manuel Gonzalez's son, Samuel Z. Gonzalez, ran a storage place for the Confederate army here. The Gonzalez family farm was also the site of a small fight. Union soldiers from Fort Barrancas fought against Confederate troops in the area.

Gonzalez is located in Florida at coordinates 30°34′28″N 87°17′24″W / 30.57444°N 87.29000°W. This means it's in the northern part of Florida, near the Gulf Coast.
