Gonzo, often called The Great Gonzo, is a famous character from The Muppets. He is known for his wild and exciting stunt performances. Gonzo loves to put on a show, no matter how crazy or dangerous it seems!
One of the most fun things about Gonzo is that nobody really knows what kind of creature he is. This mystery is a running gag in the Muppet world. People have guessed he might be a "Frackle," an alien, or even a type of bird.
Who is Gonzo?
Gonzo was created and brought to life by Dave Goelz. He first appeared in a TV special called The Great Santa Claus Switch in 1970. Back then, he was a small character known as the "Cigar Box Frackle."
Gonzo's Rise to Fame
Gonzo became much more important when The Muppet Show started. He quickly grew into one of the main characters in the Muppet family. His unique personality and love for stunts made him a fan favorite.

Gonzo has been in every single Muppet movie. One of his most famous roles was in The Muppet Christmas Carol. In this movie, he played the famous author Charles Dickens. He often worked with Rizzo the Rat, forming a funny double act that made audiences laugh.
