Rizzo the Rat is a fun and clever Muppet character. He is a rat who first appeared on The Muppet Show. Steve Whitmire created and performed Rizzo for many years. Rizzo is famous for his funny roles in Muppet movies. He had a big part in the 1992 film The Muppet Christmas Carol.
Rizzo is often seen with Gonzo the Great. They have been a funny team since 1992. Steve Whitmire based Rizzo on another character named Ratso Rizzo.

Who is Rizzo?
Rizzo is a street-smart and sarcastic rat. He speaks with a New Jersey accent. He often makes jokes and witty comments. Rizzo is known for being a bit of a trickster. He sometimes tries to get out of work.
Rizzo has a special fear of heights, called acrophobia. This means he gets very scared when he is high up. He has shown this fear in different Muppet shows and movies.
Rizzo's Family and Food
Rizzo's family is quite large! In The Muppet Christmas Carol, he told Gonzo he has 1,274 brothers and sisters. That's a lot of rats!
In 2016, Disney shared more about Rizzo's family. They said his family traditionally cooked pizzas. This was announced when a new pizzeria opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The restaurant is named PizzeRizzo, after him!
