Where is Good Hope Lake?
This community is found right on Highway 37. This highway is a main road that goes through this part of Canada. Good Hope Lake is about 94 kilometers (about 58 miles) south of the border with the Yukon territory. It is also located east of some old mining towns like Cassiar and Jade City.
Who Lives in Good Hope Lake?
Good Hope Lake is a small community. In 2006, about 38 people lived there. This number was a bit smaller than in 2001, when 75 people called Good Hope Lake home.
The Kaska Dene Nation
Good Hope Lake is where the Dease River Band Council is located. This council is part of the Kaska Dene Nation. The Kaska Dene Nation is a group of First Nations people who have lived in this area for a very long time. The Dease River Band Council is also a member government of the Kaska Tribal Council. This council helps to manage and support the Kaska Dene communities.
