Gordon Schildenfeld (born on March 18, 1985) is a Croatian football manager and former player. He played as a centre-back, which is a defensive position in football. Today, Schildenfeld is the manager of HNK Vukovar 1991, a football club in Croatia's second-highest league.

Club Career Highlights
Starting at Šibenik
Gordon Schildenfeld began his football journey at his hometown club, HNK Šibenik. He was only 16 years old when he made his first professional appearance for the team. In the 2005–06 season, he played a key role in helping Šibenik get promoted to Croatia's top football league.
Playing for Dinamo Zagreb
After showing his talent at Šibenik, big Croatian clubs like Dinamo Zagreb became interested in him. In January 2007, Schildenfeld joined Dinamo Zagreb. Even though he was new to the top league, he quickly became a regular player. He helped Dinamo win both the Croatian league and the Croatian Cup titles. He even scored an important goal in the cup final!
During the 2007–08 season, Schildenfeld also played in important European matches for Dinamo. He appeared in games for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup.
Moving to Beşiktaş
In February 2008, Gordon Schildenfeld moved to Beşiktaş, a top club in Turkey. He made his debut in the Turkish league shortly after joining.
Loan Spells in Germany and Austria
Time at MSV Duisburg
In September 2008, Schildenfeld went on loan to MSV Duisburg in Germany's second division. He played a few matches for them as a substitute.
Success with Sturm Graz
In July 2009, he joined Sturm Graz in Austria on loan. He quickly became a regular player there, appearing in many league matches. He scored his first goal for the club in March 2010.
During his time with Sturm Graz, he also played in the UEFA Europa League. He helped the team win the Austrian Cup in 2010. After a successful loan, he signed a permanent contract with Sturm Graz in June 2010. The next season, he helped them win the Austrian Bundesliga title!
Returning to Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt
On July 7, 2011, Schildenfeld moved back to Germany to play for Eintracht Frankfurt. He played almost every game in his first season. He helped the club get promoted to the top German league, the Bundesliga.
Adventures in Russia and Greece
Playing for Dynamo Moscow
In July 2012, Schildenfeld signed a three-year contract with Dynamo Moscow, a team in the Russian Premier League.
Loans to PAOK and Panathinaikos
After a short time in Russia, Schildenfeld went on loan to PAOK in Greece. Then, in August 2013, he moved on loan to Panathinaikos. He stayed with Panathinaikos for two years and became a very well-known player there. He even helped them win the Greek Football Cup in 2014!
Back to Dinamo Zagreb
In the summer of 2015, Schildenfeld returned to Dinamo Zagreb, the club where he had won titles before.
Joining Anorthosis Famagusta
On July 6, 2017, Schildenfeld moved to Anorthosis Famagusta, a club in Cyprus. He played there for several years.
International Career
Gordon Schildenfeld also played for his country, Croatia.
Under-21 Team
He played one match for the Croatia national under-21 team in 2006.
Senior National Team
Schildenfeld made his debut for the senior Croatia on November 14, 2009, in a friendly match. He played in many international games, including qualifiers for the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament. He helped Croatia qualify for Euro 2012 and played in all three of their matches at the tournament.
On March 28, 2015, Gordon scored his first goal for Croatia! It was during a UEFA Euro 2016 qualification match against Norway. He scored with a header from a corner kick, helping Croatia win the game 5–1. He also played in Euro 2016.
Personal Life
Gordon Schildenfeld's family has roots in Slovenia and Austria. He met his wife, Christina Marsellou, in Athens in 2014. They have two children together: a son named Alexander, born in 2017, and a daughter named Bella, born in 2019. Gordon also has two daughters from his first marriage.
