Grace Lo Yang is a brilliant statistician from Taiwan. She studies how chance and random events affect things in science. Grace Lo Yang was born in China. In 1949, her family moved to Taiwan. She went to National Taiwan University for her first university degree. Later, she moved to the United States to continue her studies.

In 1966, she earned her PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. Her main research paper for her PhD was about how diseases spread using mathematical models. Her professor, Lucien Le Cam, helped her with this important work.

Grace Lo Yang has done a lot of important work in statistics. She even wrote a book with her former professor, Lucien Le Cam. The book is called Asymptotics in Statistics: Some Basic Concepts. It was first published in 1990 and then updated in 2002. This book helps explain complex ideas in statistics.
