Their space shuttle is hit by fast-moving pieces of space junk. This debris destroys their spacecraft and leaves them floating alone in the vastness of space.

The movie shows their incredible struggle to survive. They are far from Earth, with limited oxygen and no way to call for help. Making the Movie

Making Gravity was a huge challenge because most of the movie takes place in space. The filmmakers used amazing special effects to make it look like the actors were really floating. They worked with a company called Framestore to create the realistic zero-gravity scenes.

One of the most famous parts of the movie is its long opening scene. It lasts for about 13 minutes without any cuts! This scene shows a clear view of Earth from space, and then the sudden disaster happens. It took many months to plan and years to film this one sequence.
