Great Sampford facts for kids
Great Sampford is a village in the county of Essex, England. It's located where two roads, the B1053 and B1051 roads, meet. This village is part of the Uttlesford area in the north-west of Essex. In 2011, about 586 people lived here.
The village has a primary school, two churches, and a pub. It's about three miles north-east of Thaxted and eight miles south-east of Saffron Walden.
A river called the River Pant flows through the southern part of Great Sampford. The village is also connected to a nearby place called Hempstead by Howe Lane.

What's in Great Sampford?
Great Sampford has a lively community. You'll find a village green, which is a big open grassy area. There's also a cricket club for sports fans.
Next to the green is a playground. This playground has a skatepark, which was given money by the National Lottery. It also has a zip wire, funded by a grant from the Uttlesford District Council. You can find a small football pitch and a tennis court there too.
Churches in the Village
The village is home to two churches. One is the Baptist Church. This church also owns a small hall next door. The hall is used by the community, including a pre-school for younger children.
The other church is a Church of England parish church, called St Michael's.

Great Sampford once had an RAF airfield. This was a place where military planes could take off and land. It was known as RAF Great Sampford.
