Green Lake is a beautiful lake found in the North Cascades National Park. This park is located in the state of Washington, in the United States. Green Lake is known for its stunning natural surroundings and the waterfalls that feed into and flow from it.
Discovering Green Lake
Green Lake is a special place in the North Cascades National Park. It sits about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) northeast of a mountain called Bacon Peak. The lake is quite high up, at an elevation of 4,265 feet (1,300 meters) above sea level. It's a great spot for enjoying nature and seeing amazing mountain views.
Water Flow and Waterfalls
Green Lake gets its water from a nearby glacier called Green Lake Glacier. Water from this glacier melts and flows towards the lake. Before reaching Green Lake, this water creates a spectacular sight: it plunges 375 feet (114 meters) over a waterfall known as Bacon Lake Falls. This means the water drops a long way before it even gets to the lake!
But the waterfalls don't stop there. Below Green Lake, there's another impressive series of waterfalls. These are called Green Lake Falls. They drop an incredible 979 feet (298 meters). Imagine how powerful that water must be! These falls add to the wild beauty of the area around Green Lake.
