Greenfield is a friendly neighbourhood located in the eastern part of Glasgow, a big city in Scotland. It sits just north of the River Clyde, which is a well-known river in the area.

This neighbourhood was built in the 1960s on what used to be the land of a large house called Greenfield House. The old house was taken down to make space for the new homes and community that you see there today.

Greenfield: A Community in Glasgow

Greenfield is a lively place where many families live. It's known for its community feel and the different types of homes you can find there.

What's in Greenfield?

Greenfield has some great facilities for its residents.

  • There's a recently improved football centre. This is a popular spot for amateur games, where local teams and friends can play football.
  • You'll also find a public park, which is a perfect place for people to relax, play, and enjoy the outdoors.
  • The neighbourhood is home to three schools, providing education for children and young people in the area.

Where is Greenfield Located?

Greenfield is surrounded by other Glasgow neighbourhoods.

  • To the south, you'll find Shettleston.
  • To the north, it borders Cranhill.
  • Carntyne is to the east.
  • And to the west, you'll find Springboig and Budhill.

The homes in Greenfield are a mix of different styles. You can see terraced houses, which are rows of homes joined together. There are also tenements, which are large apartment buildings, and maisonettes, which are apartments spread over two floors. Interestingly, some special "prefab" houses from the 1940s are still standing. These were quickly built homes made after World War II.

A Look at Greenfield's History

Greenfield was developed in the 1960s as a modern housing area. Before that, it was mostly open land with the old Greenfield House.

In 2002, Greenfield faced a big challenge when it experienced some flooding. This event showed the community's strength as people worked together to recover.
