A Look Back in Time
Gresham got its name from Walter Q. Gresham. He was a very important person in the government, like the head of the mail service (the Postmaster General) when Gresham's post office first opened in December 1883.
Gresham was once home to a special training center called the Alexian Brothers' Novitiate. After it closed, this site became important in 1975. For about a month, a group called the Menominee Warrior Society stayed there to bring attention to their community's needs.

The United States Census Bureau says that the village covers a total area of about 3.2 square kilometers (1.24 square miles). Most of this area, about 2.95 square kilometers (1.14 square miles), is land. The rest, about 0.26 square kilometers (0.10 square miles), is water.

2010 Population Details
In 2010, a census (a count of all people) showed that 586 people lived in Gresham. These people lived in 239 different homes, and 145 of those were families.
The village had about 198 people per square kilometer (514 people per square mile). There were also 280 housing units, which are places where people can live.
Most of the people living in Gresham were White (67.9%). A good number were also Native American (24.1%). Some people were from other races or a mix of two or more races. About 3.2% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.
In terms of homes, about 31.4% had children under 18 living there. Many homes (39.3%) were married couples living together. Some homes had a female head without a husband (16.3%), or a male head without a wife (5.0%). About 33.5% of all homes had just one person living there.
