Greta Conway Van Susteren, born on June 11, 1954, is an American journalist and television news anchor. She is also a lawyer. She has worked for major news channels like CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, and now Newsmax TV.
Greta hosted On the Record w/ Greta Van Susteren on Fox News for 14 years. She then moved to MSNBC, where she hosted For the Record with Greta. Since June 2022, she has hosted The Record with Greta van Susteren on Newsmax. Before her career in news, she was a lawyer. She also appeared on CNN as a legal expert. In 2016, Forbes magazine recognized her as one of the most powerful women in the world.

Early Life and Education
Greta Conway Van Susteren was born in Appleton, Wisconsin. Her father, Urban Van Susteren, had Dutch family roots. Her mother, Margery Conway, was of Irish descent and managed their home. Greta's father was a judge. He was also a friend of U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy.
Greta has a sister, Lise, who is a doctor specializing in mental health. Her brother, Dirk, was a journalist and editor.
Greta finished Xavier High School in 1972. She then went to the University of Wisconsin–Madison, graduating in 1976. There, she studied geography and economics. She later earned a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979. Before becoming a TV personality, she also taught law at Georgetown.
Greta Van Susteren's Career in Television
Greta Van Susteren became well-known during the O. J. Simpson murder trial. She appeared on CNN as a legal expert, explaining the legal process. This led her to co-host CNN shows like Burden of Proof and The Point.
In 2002, Greta moved to the Fox News Channel. She became the host of On the Record w/ Greta Van Susteren, a show that discussed current events. She hosted this popular show for many years.
On September 6, 2016, Greta left Fox News. She then joined NBC News in early 2017. She anchored a show called For the Record with Greta on MSNBC. After a few months, she left MSNBC.
In October 2017, Greta started working as a contributor for Voice of America. This organization provides news and information around the world.
Working with Gray Television
In February 2019, Greta joined Gray Television. This company owns many TV stations across the United States. She became their chief national political analyst. She shared her thoughts and analysis on political topics for their news programs.
In April 2019, Greta and Gray Television announced a new show. It was called Full Court Press with Greta Van Susteren. This Sunday morning talk show started airing in September 2019. It aimed to interview political candidates, especially from states important for early elections.

Personal Life
Greta Van Susteren married John P. Coale, a lawyer, in 1988. They are both followers of Scientology. In 1995, she told People magazine that she strongly supports their ethical principles.
For several years, Greta was a co-owner of a restaurant called the Old Mill Inn. It was located in Mattituck, New York, on Long Island.
Greta is a member of the board of directors for the National Institute for Civil Discourse (NICD). This institute was created to promote respectful public discussion. It was formed after a shooting incident in Tucson, Arizona.
She has visited Myanmar many times. She has also spoken to Congress to bring attention to human rights issues there. She highlighted the problems faced by the Rohingya people.
