The town is served by the South Big Horn County Airport. This airport is used for general aviation, meaning smaller private planes.
For many years, it was a base for special planes called air tankers. These planes help fight forest fires by dropping water or fire retardant.
Aviation Companies in Greybull
- Christler-Avery Aviation started in 1951. They used planes like the B-18 Bolo and B-25 Mitchell for aerial spraying (spraying crops from the air).
- Avery Aviation was founded in 1961. This company built a hangar and improved the airport. They used planes like the Bell 47 and Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer.
- Hawkins and Powers Aviation began in 1969. They bought Avery Aviation. This company became famous for its aerial firefighting planes. They used large aircraft like the Boeing C-97 and Lockheed C-130 Hercules to fight fires. The company stopped operating in 2005 after some serious accidents.
