Grub AR is a small town, also known as a municipality, located in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland. It's a peaceful place with a population of just over 1,000 people.
History of Grub
Grub has a long history! The town was first mentioned in official records way back in 1488. At that time, it was known by the name uss der Gruob.
Geography of Grub
Grub covers an area of about 4.2 square kilometers (1.6 square miles). A big part of this land, about 53.9%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 33.1% of the area.
Around 12.8% of Grub's land has buildings or roads. The rest, a tiny 0.2%, is made up of natural features like rivers or mountains.
Grub is located in a region called Vorderland. It includes the main village of Grub and several smaller groups of houses called hamlets. There are also many individual farmhouses spread out.
An interesting fact is that the Protestant part of Grub AR is separated by a small creek from the Catholic Grub SG. This other Grub SG is now part of the nearby town of Eggersriet in the canton of St. Gallen.
