Gurdas Maan is a famous Indian singer, songwriter, and actor. He is mostly known for his work in Punjabi music and movies. He became very popular in 1980 with his hit song "Dil Da Mamla Hai."
Since then, he has created over 34 music albums. He has also written more than 305 songs. Many people consider him one of the greatest and most important Punjabi musicians ever. In 2015, he performed the song "Ki Banu Dunia Da" with Diljit Dosanjh on a TV show called MTV Coke Studio India.

Early Life and Beginnings
Gurdas Maan was born on January 4, 1957. His parents were Gurdev Singh and Tej Kaur. He grew up in a town called Giddarbaha in Punjab.
He went to school in Giddarbaha and later graduated from DAV college. From a young age, he loved music and enjoyed imitating others.
Gurdas Maan's Career Journey
Gurdas Maan first worked for an electricity board. He got this job after officials saw him sing at an event. In 1980, a producer asked him to sing "Dil Da Mamla Hai" on a TV channel called DD National. This song quickly made him famous.
Awards and Special Recognitions
Gurdas Maan is the only Punjabi singer to win a national award for Best Male Playback Singer. He received this award at the 54th National Film Awards. He won it for his singing of Heer in the movie Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris. His singing helped tell the story of the film.
This movie was also considered for the Academy Awards (Oscars). It was a big achievement for Punjabi cinema.
After "Dil Da Mamla Hai," he had more hit songs like "Mamla Gadbad Hai" and "Chhalla." "Chhalla" was a popular song from the Punjabi film Laung Da Lishkara (1986).
Gurdas Maan has also acted in many successful Bollywood films. He has won several awards, including the Jury's Award from the President of India in 2005. His song "Ki Banu Duniya Da" with Diljit Dosanjh became very popular online.
In 2009, he won "Best International Album" at the UK Asian Music Awards for his album Boot Polishan. In 2017, he received the "Filmfare Award for Living Legend" at the first Filmfare Awards Punjabi event.

Personal Life
Gurdas Maan is married to Manjeet Maan. They have a son named Gurickk Maan. Gurickk is married to actress Simran Kaur Mundi.
On January 20, 2007, Gurdas Maan was in a car accident near Karnal, Haryana. His car was badly damaged, but he only had minor injuries. His driver, Ganesh, was seriously hurt but got better later.
This was not his first car accident. On January 9, 2001, he was in another accident near Rupnagar, Punjab. In that crash, his driver and good friend, Tejpal, passed away. Gurdas Maan later said that Tejpal had told him to wear his seat belt just before the accident. He believes this advice saved his life. He later wrote a song called "Baithi sade naal savari utter gayi" to honor his driver.
His mother, Tej Kaur, passed away in 2016.
