Working for Road Safety
Throughout his time as an MPP, Bourgouin has often spoken about making roads safer. This is especially true for roads in Northern Ontario. In June 2019, he introduced his first bill. A bill is a proposed law. This bill suggested better winter road care for Ontario Highway 11 and Ontario Highway 17. However, this bill did not pass. The Progressive Conservatives voted against it in November.
In November 2023, Bourgouin suggested a new law. It was called Chad's Law. This law was named after Chad Bélanger from Kapuskasing. Chad was badly hurt in a car crash. The law would have stopped drivers from crossing a double-yellow line to pass other cars. This rule is already in place in every other province in Canada. The legislature did not vote on this bill.
