The main organ

The Haga Church is a beautiful church building located in Gothenburg, Sweden. It belongs to the Church of Sweden. This church first opened its doors on November 27, 1859. That day was a special Sunday called Advent Sunday.

The building of the church started in 1856. A famous architect named Adolf W. Edelsvärd designed the church. He also designed the pulpit, which is where the preacher stands. The church's bell tower is quite tall, reaching about 50 meters into the sky.

Music at Haga Church: Organs and Organists

Haga Church is known for its amazing musical instruments. It has two main organs.

The First Organ: A Long History

The first organ was put in the church in 1861. A company from Denmark, Marcussen & Søn, built it. It cost 20,000 Swedish crowns at that time. Over the years, this organ was updated several times. It was rebuilt in 1911 and again between 1945 and 1951. In 2002, work began to make it sound almost like it did when it was first built. This restoration finished in 2004.

The very first person to play the organ at Haga Church was Per Johan Ållander. He started in 1861. Carl H Olsson was the first cantor, who helps lead the singing. He was hired in 1863.

The Second Organ: A Special Sound

A second, special organ was added to the church in 1991. It was built by John Brombaugh. This organ is a "meantone" organ, which means it has a unique and old-fashioned sound. It is located in the north balcony of the church.
