The University of Haifa (Hebrew: אוניברסיטת חיפה, Arabic: جامعة حيفا) is a public research university. It is located on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel. The university was started in 1963. It became a fully recognized university in 1972. This made it Israel's sixth academic school and its fourth university.
The University of Haifa has the largest university library in Israel. In 2019, about 18,000 students were studying there. It has the highest number of Arab-Israeli students among Israeli universities. About 41% of its students are Arab-Israeli.

About the University of Haifa
The University of Haifa was founded in 1963. It was started by the mayor of Haifa, Abba Hushi. At first, it was part of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The university is built on Mount Carmel, a beautiful mountain. In 1972, it became an independent university. This was a big step for education in Israel.
Today, around 18,100 students attend the university. They study many different subjects. These include social sciences, humanities, law, and education. The university is split into six main parts, called faculties. These are:
