Nicolas's Football Journey
Nicolas Kashama had an interesting path to professional football. Even though he wasn't chosen in the main 2004 NFL draft (meaning he was an undrafted free agent), he still got a chance to play.
Playing for the Cleveland Browns
Nicolas first signed with the Cleveland Browns on May 19, 2004. This was his first step into the National Football League (NFL). However, he was released by the team a few weeks later. He was then re-signed in July but was released again shortly after.
Time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
On August 9, 2004, Nicolas signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, a team in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played in two games with them in 2004. His first game was on August 19. Sadly, he got a leg injury that made him miss the rest of that season. During his two years with the Tiger-Cats, he played in ten games.
With the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Nicolas later signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. During their training camp in 2006, he was known for making strong tackles. However, he was released by the Blue Bombers on June 10, 2006.
Joining the Calgary Stampeders
Nicolas then signed with the Calgary Stampeders in 2007. He was released after their training camp that year. He got another chance with the Stampeders on June 1, 2008, when he re-signed with them. But he was among the final players cut from the team on June 22, 2008.
Football Family
Nicolas Kashama comes from a family deeply involved in professional football. His brothers, Alain and Fernand Kashama, also played for the Calgary Stampeders. Their cousin, Tim Biakabutuka, was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). It's pretty cool to have so many family members playing at a high level!
