Harold "Hal" Miller was an American actor, painter, singer, lyricist, and poet. He is best known for playing Gordon Robinson on the popular children's TV show Sesame Street. He was the second actor to play Gordon, from 1972 to 1974.

Early Life and Education
Miller spent most of his early life in Harlem, New York. He grew up in a Catholic family and went to a church school. He later earned a degree in chemistry.
After college, Miller worked with a famous chemist named Dr. Casimir Funk. Dr. Funk was one of the first people to discover vitamins and even helped create the word "vitamin" in 1911. Miller and Dr. Funk published their research together in the 1960s.
Acting Career Highlights

Hal Miller started acting when he was 18 years old. He performed in plays like Take a Giant Step in Liberty, New York. He also acted in plays in his hometown of Harlem.
Miller performed in many important theaters. He was Lord Ross at the American Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Connecticut. He also played Fabian in Twelfth Night at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
Moving to Hollywood and TV Roles
Miller later moved to Hollywood to work on TV shows. He co-starred in Joe Forrester and other productions for Columbia Pictures. He then returned to New York City to star in the NBC special Purge's Place. He also played the main character, David, in Stone in the River.
Miller traveled to different countries for his acting work. He went to China for a film and later to India to work in Bollywood.
Joining Sesame Street
In 1966, Miller joined the Actors' Equity Association, a union for stage actors. In 1971, he joined the Screen Actors Guild, a union for film and TV actors.
From 1972 to 1974, Miller played Gordon on Sesame Street. He decided to leave the show to pursue other acting opportunities. After Sesame Street, he appeared in two episodes of the popular TV show Law & Order.
Miller performed in many places around the world, including Europe, China, and India. He retired from acting in 1996.

Hal Miller was married to Lynne Miller, who was an interior designer. Their son, Harold Miller Jr., even appeared on Sesame Street with his father in the 1970s.
