Hale is a friendly neighborhood located in the southern part of Minneapolis. It's part of a larger area called the Nokomis community. You can find Hale south of Minnehaha Creek, north of 55th Street, east of Chicago Avenue, and west of Cedar Avenue.
Hale is part of Ward 11. A "ward" is like a district that elects someone to represent them in the city government. Currently, City Council member Emily Koski represents Hale.
About the Hale Neighborhood
The Hale neighborhood got its name from a local public school. The school itself was named after Nathan Hale, a brave soldier from the American Revolutionary War.
Hale Elementary School
Hale Elementary is a school for young students, from kindergarten up to second grade. It also has a special program for four-year-olds before they start kindergarten.
Homes and Parks
Most of the houses in Hale were built a long time ago, in the 1920s and 1930s. The neighborhood is lucky to have large parks along its northern and eastern sides. These parks are great places for outdoor fun and activities.
Community Connections
Hale is one of three neighborhoods that work together as a group. This group is called the Hale Page Diamond Lake Community Association, or HDPL for short. They team up to make their communities better.
