Nokomis is a special area in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It's known as a "defined community." This means it's a group of neighborhoods that are officially recognized together.
Nokomis gets its name from Lake Nokomis, a beautiful lake nearby. This community is made up of eleven smaller neighborhoods.

Some of these neighborhoods are also grouped together. Keewaydin, Minnehaha, Morris Park, and Wenonah are often called Nokomis East.
Local Government and Leaders
The neighborhoods in Nokomis are part of different city districts. These districts are called "wards." Nokomis neighborhoods are found in Wards 8, 11, and 12 of the Minneapolis City Council.
Each ward has a "council member" who represents the people living there. They help make decisions for the city. Currently, the council members for these wards are Andrea Jenkins, Emily Koski, and Aurin Chowdhury.
