Field is a neighborhood located in the southern part of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is part of the larger Nokomis community. This area is mostly residential, meaning many people live here.

Discovering the Field Neighborhood

The Field neighborhood has clear boundaries. To the north, you'll find East 46th Street. Chicago Avenue forms its eastern border. Minnehaha Parkway is on the south side, and Interstate 35W is on the west.

Working Together: Field's Community Group

Field works with two other neighborhoods, Regina and Northrop. They all share a special group called the Field Regina Northrop Neighborhood Group (FRNNG). This group helps improve the area for everyone living there.

Local Government: Who Represents Field?

The Field neighborhood is split between two city areas called Ward 8 and Ward 11. These wards are like districts that elect people to represent them. Currently, Andrea Jenkins represents Ward 8 and Emily Koski represents Ward 11. They are both city council members.

How Field Got Its Name

The neighborhood is named after Field Elementary School. This school teaches students in grades 3-5. The school itself was named after Eugene Field, who was a famous writer of children's poems.

Homes and Shops in Field

Most of the homes in Field are small. They often have two bedrooms and were built before the 1940s. These houses are made from materials like stucco, brick, and stone. The main street for shops and businesses in the neighborhood is Chicago Avenue. Field is also home to a special historic place called the Arthur and Edith Lee House.
