Halstead's Bay (sometimes spelled Halsted's) is a beautiful part of Lake Minnetonka. It's the bay furthest to the west on the lake. You can find it in the cities of Minnetrista and Mound, which are both in Hennepin County, Minnesota.

Exploring Halstead's Bay

Halstead's Bay is named after Frank W. Halsted. He was one of the first settlers to move to this area way back in 1855. The main stream that flows into the bay is called Six Mile Creek. This creek enters the bay from the west side.

Getting to Halstead's Bay

If you want to visit Halstead's Bay, there's a public boat launch. This is a great spot to put a boat in the water. You can find it along a road called Halstead's Drive.

Unique Features of the Bay

Halstead's Bay is special because it's one of the last areas on Lake Minnetonka to have a lot of new houses built. For a long time, it kept its natural feel.

In the past, the water quality in the bay was sometimes affected by nearby towns. However, big improvements were made in the early 1980s. The towns connected to a larger system that cleans water, which helped keep the bay much cleaner and healthier.

Some parts of the bay have very steep land leading down to the water. For example, there's a neighborhood called the Bluffs on the north side. Another area with steep land is called Eagles Bluff. These steep areas add to the natural beauty of the bay.
