Minnetrista is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. It is located about 23 miles (37 km) west of Minneapolis. Minnetrista is part of the larger Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area.
Even though it's near a big city, Minnetrista still has a lot of farms. Farmers here grow corn, soybeans, and hay. They also raise horses. The city is home to many lakes, including part of Lake Minnetonka. Lake Minnetonka is the ninth-biggest lake in Minnesota.
In 2020, the city had 8,262 people living there. The name Minnetrista comes from the Dakota language. In Dakota, minne means "water" and trista means "crooked." So, Minnetrista means "crooked water."

Geography of Minnetrista
Minnetrista covers a total area of about 30.76 square miles (79.67 square kilometers). Most of this area, 25.82 square miles (66.87 square kilometers), is land. The remaining 4.94 square miles (12.79 square kilometers) is water. The city is located entirely within Hennepin County.
Main Roads and Waterways
Several important roads run through Minnetrista. These include County Roads 15, 44, 92, and 110. These roads help people travel around the city and connect to other areas.
Minnetrista is known for its many lakes. Some of these lakes are Whaletail Lake, Little Long Lake, Mud Lake, Ox Yoke Lake, and Saunders Lake. A large part of Lake Minnetonka is also within the city's borders. Six Mile Creek flows through the western part of Minnetrista. This creek carries water from about 17,000 acres (69 square kilometers) of land into Lake Minnetonka.
