Early Days as a Drummer
Hamish Rosser started his musical journey when he was young. At eight years old, he began learning to play the guitar. But by age eleven, he found his true passion: the drums! He even bought his first drum set with money he saved from delivering newspapers in his Sydney neighborhood.
His very first band was a high school punk group called "The Warthogs." They loved playing songs by famous punk bands like The Clash, The Ramones, and the Sex Pistols.
Rocking Out with Bands
Hamish has played drums for some really cool rock bands throughout his career.
Joining The Vines
In 2002, Hamish was asked to join the popular Australian band, The Vines. He became their new drummer. He played with The Vines for many years, helping them create their unique sound. He left the band in December 2011.
Drumming for Wolfmother
In 2012, Hamish started touring with another well-known Australian hard rock band called Wolfmother. The band was planning to work on their third studio album. After touring for a year, Wolfmother took a break. Their lead singer, Andrew Stockdale, worked on his own solo album called Keep Moving. Hamish played drums and percussion on several songs for this album.
Later, Andrew Stockdale reformed Wolfmother, and Hamish rejoined the band. He left Wolfmother in 2013 but then came back to play with them again in 2017.
Playing with Bunny Racket
In 2016, Hamish joined a fun children's rock 'n' roll band called Bunny Racket. He even performed with them at a big music festival called Splendour in the Grass that year.
Back with The Vines
In 2023, Hamish rejoined The Vines to record a new album with the band's lead singer, Craig Nicholls.
Life Outside the Band
Hamish Rosser has a family. He and his wife, Kristy, had their first child, Oscar Rosser, in June 2012. Oscar was born in Queensland, Australia.
Hamish used to live in Redfern, New South Wales. In 2017, he sold his house there and moved to Byron Bay, a beautiful coastal town.
