Hanan Tork (Arabic: حنان ترك; born March 7, 1975) is a famous retired actress and ballerina from Egypt. She was born Hanan Hasan Abdelkrim Tork but is best known by her stage name, Hanan Tork. Her father owned a clothing factory.

Before she became an actress, Hanan was a talented ballerina. She studied at the Cairo Ballet Institute and graduated in 1993. After graduating, she joined the Cairo Ballet Group and later the Classical Ballet Group, performing in many shows.

Besides her acting work, Hanan has also worked with international charities.

Hanan Tork is a well-known Egyptian actress.

Hanan's acting journey began when director Khairy Beshara noticed her. He cast her in the 1991 movie Raghbah Motawaheshah. This role made her want to act more. Soon after, she appeared in a TV series called El Awda El Akheera alongside the famous actor Salah Zulfikar.

She continued to act in popular TV shows like El Mal W El Banun and Lan A'ish Fi Gelbab Abi. Her big break in movies came in 1994 when the famous director Youssef Chahine chose her for his film El Mohager.

Becoming a Star

Throughout the 1990s, Hanan's fame grew. In 1997, she starred with the singer Mohamed Fouad in the hit movie Ismailia Rayeh Gai. She worked with director Youssef Chahine again on his films Al Masir (1997) and Al Akhar (1999).

By the 2000s, Hanan was one of Egypt's biggest stars. She starred in the popular TV series Opera Aida and the comedy movie Ga'na Al Bayan Al Taly with actor Mohamed Henedi. She also had major roles in the successful family comedies Haramiyya Fi KG2 (2002) and Haramiyyah fi Tayland (2003).

In 2005, she starred in the movie Dunia. The film was about a dancer and poet. It sparked a lot of discussion in Egypt and Europe because it dealt with important social topics. For her role in the 2007 film Kas w lask, she was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

Personal Life and Retirement

In 2006, Hanan decided to start wearing the hijab, a religious headscarf. She continued acting for several years after making this personal choice.

In August 2012, Hanan Tork announced her retirement from acting. She wanted to spend more time with her family. She was previously married to Khaled Khatab, with whom she has three children. In 2012, she married Mahmud Malek, and they have two children together.

Even though she has retired from acting on screen, Hanan still works on creative projects. She now lends her voice to Egyptian cartoon movies and TV shows.
