Hanna Serhiivna Rizatdinova (Ukrainian: Ганна Сергіївна Різатдінова) is a famous Ukrainian rhythmic gymnast. She was born on July 16, 1993. Hanna is best known for winning a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in the all-around event. She also won silver and bronze medals at the World Championships in 2013 and 2014.

Hanna's Gymnastics Journey

Hanna Rizatdinova started her gymnastics training in Simferopol, where her mother, Oksana Rizatdinova, was her coach.

Early Career and Junior Success

In 2008, Hanna won a silver medal at the Kyiv Junior World Cup. She was also part of the Ukrainian team that earned a bronze medal at the 2008 European Junior Championships in Torino.

Becoming a Senior Gymnast

As a senior gymnast, Hanna continued to achieve success.

  • In 2011, she won a bronze medal with the Ukrainian team at both the World Championships and the European Championships.
  • In 2012, Hanna had a great performance at the Deriugina Cup in Kyiv. She won bronze in the all-around and hoop, and silver in ball and clubs.
  • She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, finishing 10th in the individual all-around.

The year 2013 was very successful for Hanna.

  • She won gold medals in the all-around at World Cup events in Tartu, Estonia, and Corbeil-Essonnes, France.
  • At the 2013 European Championships in Vienna, Austria, her team won a silver medal. Hanna also won silver in the ribbon final.
  • She earned a bronze medal in the all-around at the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan.
  • At the 2013 World Games in Cali, she won gold in hoop and two silver medals in ball and clubs.
  • The biggest achievement was at the 2013 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Kyiv. Hanna won a gold medal in hoop, which was Ukraine's first gold since 2007. She also won a silver medal in the all-around.
  • She received the Longines Prize for Elegance in rhythmic gymnastics.

In 2014, Hanna continued to win many medals.

  • She won silver in the all-around at the Debrecen World Cup.
  • At the 2014 European Championships, she earned an all-around bronze medal.
  • At the 2014 World Championships, the Ukrainian team won a bronze medal. Hanna also won two bronze medals in clubs and ribbon, and another bronze in the all-around competition.

Success in 2015

Hanna started 2015 by winning gold in the all-around at the L.A. Lights competition.

  • She won gold in the all-around at the Thiais Grand Prix.
  • At the 2015 European Championships, Team Ukraine won bronze. Hanna also won a silver medal in clubs.
  • She won two silver medals in ball and clubs at the 2015 European Games.
  • At the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju, Korea, Hanna won a silver medal in the all-around and a gold medal in clubs.
  • She won a bronze medal in the all-around at the Sofia World Cup.
  • At the 2015 World Championships, Team Ukraine won a bronze medal. Hanna also won bronze medals in hoop, clubs, and ribbon.

The year 2016 was very important for Hanna, leading up to the Olympic Games.

  • She won gold medals at the L.A. Lights and Valentine Cup competitions.
  • At various World Cup events, she won many medals:
    • Espoo World Cup: bronze in all-around, gold in ribbon and hoop, silver in clubs.
    • Lisboa World Cup: silver in all-around, gold in clubs and ribbon, silver in hoop.
    • Pesaro World Cup: bronze in all-around, gold in ball and ribbon, silver in hoop.
    • Sofia World Cup: silver in all-around, gold in hoop, silver in ball and clubs.
    • Guadalajara World Cup: silver in all-around, silver in ball, bronze in hoop and clubs.
  • At the 2016 European Championships, she won the all-around bronze medal.
  • The highlight of her career came at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Hanna won the bronze medal in the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around final.

Retirement in 2017

In 2017, Hanna was expected to compete, but she withdrew from a competition early in the season. Later that year, it was announced that she was pregnant, and she retired from gymnastics.

About Hanna's Life

Hanna Rizatdinova was born in Simferopol, Crimea. Since 2011, she has lived in Kyiv. Her mother leads a rhythmic gymnastics school in Simferopol.

During a time of change in Ukraine in late 2013 and early 2014, Hanna and her teammates had to move their training places many times. This was because their coaches wanted to make sure they were safe. Hanna said that during this time, they were "very terrified."

In 2014, after Crimea became part of Russia, Hanna said she was upset by this change. She also promised that she would never compete for Russia.

Hanna has a son named Roman, who was born in 2017.
